The Machine Technician – Mill Operation 2nd Shift performs set‑ups and troubleshooting on equipment in a Stainless Steel Tube Production Cell, including Tube Mills, Tube Swagers, Tube Corrugators, Chillers and Tig welders, to manufacture corrugated steel connectors. This position may at times require machine operation, quality checks, training of operators, and forklift operation.
Principal Functional Responsibilities- Makes safety the number one priority by leading by example, addressing unsafe conditions & behaviors, and supporting safety improvement initiatives
- Supports continuous improvement by participating in events and submitting opportunities for improvements
- Sets up, and adjusts or replaces tooling such as form rollers, weldbox, swager buttons, corrugator rings
- Ensures quality procedures are met for their role based on the control plan
- Communicates with operators, team leads, quality technicians, supervisors, managers, maintenance technicians and engineers
- Performs PM and mechanical rebuild on the above mentioned equipment
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a production/industrial environment
- Strong mathematical skills
- Proficiency with measurement tools, use of caliper, micrometer, test indicators, etc
- Familiarity with machine control panels
- Basic computer literacy skills; comfortable navigating Windows and Microsoft Office
- Mechanical background
- General understanding of welding, swage and forming
- Technical college program or courses
- Previous work experience with precision alignment
- Previous experience with Tig welding
- Experience on Driestern or Mill Master equipment
- Dependable, team oriented, positive attitude
- Adaptive to a changing work environment
- Strong attention to detail and follow‑through
- Close vision required to inspect parts
