Machine Operator I - Cutting and Milling Department
Thomasville, North Carolina, United States, 27360
Responsibilities- Assist in manufacturing of laminate flooring panels by training to operate various automated industrial machinery components on Cutting and Milling production lines to meet the required quality specifications.
- Perform quality inspections and testing throughout the shift, identifying quality and manufacturing defects.
- Gain understanding of correct parameters specific to Department processes to minimize defect opportunities and increase production output.
- Execute necessary adjustments to production line, including plate changes, based on feedback from automated systems monitoring and product specifications.
- Adhere to Company and Department standards regarding documentation, set‑up procedures, production procedures, and quality guidelines.
- Maintain documentation standards and catalog adherence to production procedures, including shift reports and checklists.
- Follow all Company and Department safety policies, including personal protective equipment and alternate work procedures.
- Attend any job‑related training deemed necessary by supervision.
- Follow all established standard operating procedures.
- Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
- Perform other tasks assigned by management.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ year experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- 1+ year familiarity with production mechanical systems preferred.
- 1+ year training in quality processes or procedures preferred.
- Proficient computer literacy necessary to navigate operation of digital equipment and order management systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot independently using problem‑solving skills and critical thinking.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team setting, including communication with various Departments via radio, phone, and in‑person conversations.
- Work with machinery in an environment where temperatures may fluctuate and other department‑specific variables are present.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs; walking, bending, squatting, climbing ladders and stairs required.
- May be required to work 12‑hour shifts and a fixed shift rotation, including holidays.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be required, including hearing protection, safety shoes, high‑visibility clothing, and eye protection.
