JOB OVERVIEW JOB TITLE Stacker Operator JOB NO. A56453 REVISION DATE JOB LOCATION Thomasville, AL GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Stacker will operate machines to sort and stack lumber. DIVISION / DEPARTMENT Production SUBDIVISION Sawmill REPORTS TO TITLE Sawmill Supervisor POSITION DETAILSFULL-TIME PART-TIME 40 HOURS PER WEEK
CONTRACTOR INTERN EXEMPT NONEXEMPT DETAILEDJOB DESCRIPTION
- Must be able to fix cross ups as they occur.
- Must have good hand and eye coordination.
- Must be able to recognize the different sizes and lengths in wood as well as the different grades.
- Ensures equipment operates properly by completing daily cleanup tasks on and around equipment.
- Ensure products meet Thomasville quality specifications.
- Ensure sticks are properly placed in stacks.
- Ensures good stack quality.
- Willing to work any shift including weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed.
- Commitment to safety.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to learn and adapt to change.
- Ability to adhere to all safety policies and regulations including wearing safety equipment.
- Ability to work in noisy envirnoment.
- Ability to lift at least 40 pounds.
- Ability to work from elevated positions using required safety gear and procedures.
- Ability to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for extended periods of time.
- Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferred Experience:
- Driving and operating a mobile equipment such as front end loader, skid steer or forklift within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Experience working in lumber or wood products industry and/or manufacturing.
- Experience troubleshooting equipment.
- Sawmill experience preferred.
