Responsibilities
- Open and close the store in the absence of management, including all required systems start‑ups, cash handling, and ensuring the floor and stock room are ready for the business day. Responsible for opening the back‑door of the store for deliveries.
- Process product returns, order voids, customer refunds, cash drops to the safe, and provide change as requested to cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
- Hold store keys to open and close without management as necessary.
- Assist and coach other team members with warehouse and vendor ordering processes and opening the back‑door for vendor deliveries.
- Register all related sales on the assigned cash register, including records of scanning errors, price verifications, items not on file, price modifications, and voids.
- Assist the manager or assistant store manager in reviewing order exceptions on release day and in reverse logistics (e.g., returns, empty packages).
- Assist the manager or assistant store manager in evaluating and developing displays, including promotional, seasonal, super‑structures, and sale merchandise. Complete resets and revisions.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and on‑hand quantities in all departments, stockroom, and over‑stock locations.
- Ensure the Outdate program is followed with team members.
- Perform basic department pricing and daily price changes; ensure signage displays accurate pricing and that any additional pricing tasks related to local regulations are completed within the required time frame.
- Assist with bookkeeping activities: cash report, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payment as necessary or requested.
- Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the store is clean, neat, orderly, and that repairs are requested as needed.
- Assist with separation of food items and product placement (e.g., raw foods from pre‑cooked), following policies and using the first‑in, first‑out method for consumables.
- Have working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.
- Assist at the pharmacy out window as requested.
- Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products.
- Check team members’ bags before leaving the store.
- Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services; resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive experience.
- Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, including interpersonal habits (greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (proactive help, identifying needs, serving until satisfied).

- Serve as a liaison between management and non‑management team members by communicating assigned tasks to team members when store management is not present.
- Report disciplinary issues and customer complaints to management.
- One year of prior retail work experience as a retail key carrier or shift leader.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- Obtain and maintain a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license as required by state.
