Assistant General Manager – Mystery Lake Hotel

Mystery Lake Hotel is a 130-room facility located at 58 Cree Road in Thompson, Manitoba, on the reserve land of Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation. We offer welcoming accommodation, a VLT Bar, and a strong commitment to community values and exceptional hospitality.

We are seeking a motivated, organized, and people-oriented Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in overseeing daily hotel operations, maintaining service standards, and ensuring exceptional guest experience. The successful candidate will help lead the team, improve operational efficiency, and support the hotel’s financial and business objectives.

• Assist the General Manager in overseeing daily operations, including Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Bar & VLT services, and tenant management.
• Supervise department activities and ensure compliance with hotel policies and brand standards.
• Support budgeting, cost control, revenue generation, and financial reporting.
• Assist with staff recruitment, training, scheduling, performance management, and employee development.
• Monitor guest satisfaction, address complaints, and implement improvements in service.
• Conduct regular property inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards.
• Help ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and applicable legislation.
• Support sales and marketing initiatives to improve occupancy and revenue.
• Promote teamwork, employee engagement, and a positive workplace culture.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum 3-5 years of hotel or hospitality operations experience, preferably in a supervisory or management role.
• Experience with midscale or select-service hotel brands is an asset; IHG experience is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of hotel operations, guest services, budgeting, and property management systems (PMS).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
