Position: Grades 6 - 8 K-5 Special Education Teacher - Thompson, Connecticut
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Special Education teacher across multiple grade levels. This position is perfectly tailored for educators who are passionate about championing student success in inclusive and specialized settings.

Currently, the highest priority is for a high school (Grades 9-12) Special Education teacher. In this role, you'll work with a mild to moderate population in an inclusion/resource setting, with hours from 7:15 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

There is also a dynamic opening for a middle school (Grades 6-8) Special Education teacher, where you'll lead a self-contained autism classroom. This position is scheduled from 7:25 AM through 2:05 PM, Monday to Friday.

Both roles begin as soon as possible and extend through June 11. Your dedication will help make a transformative impact on students and their learning journeys.

Qualifications & Desired

Experience:
  • Current teaching certification in Special Education, valid for grades K-12 (or relevant grade ranges)
  • Experience working with mild to moderate disabilities within inclusion/resource environments, or in self-contained autism classrooms
  • Familiarity with IEP development and implementation
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with colleagues, students, and families
  • Adaptability, creativity, and a student-centered mindset
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans
  • Support students' academic, social, and behavioral goals
  • Collaborate with general education staff, therapists, and families
  • Manage and monitor progress toward IEP goals
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
