Overview
Shaw Industries is hiring a Process Engineer to provide technical support to the Twisting and Heatset Departments.
ResponsibilitiesProvide support to manufacturing department managers and supervisors.
Provide technical support to Twisting/Heatset Department to improve processes and quality.
Attend meetings as needed and interface with all plant management.
Ensure compliance with contractor safety program.
Champion six sigma efforts for Twisting and Heatset Departments including black belt support, data analysis, scheduling meetings, savings calculations, reporting, Power steering updates, and drive improvement etc.
Champion technical writing for Twisting and Heatset Departments including SMS procedures, Brady Lockout procedures, etc.
Serve as liaison between Twisting Department and yarn suppliers providing feedback as needed.
Monitor supplier yarn performance by scheduling yarn break studies as needed.
Establish power consumption limits for each new twisting spec by product, twist level, speed, & machine. (To initiate, collect & analyze at least 30 data points of KW reading to establish baseline. Review results with Dept. Management & Plant Engineer before publishing to be added to specs).
Maintain, post and distribute departmental TPM and maintenance reports.
Attend Technician meetings daily to determine main barriers, and take action to remove the barriers.
Review production, waste and quality numbers daily. Investigate problem areas, and find solutions to make improvements to processes.
Champion Suggestion Board/P.I. Process for Twisting and Heatset
Schedule and participate in audits of machinery. Drive resolution of findings.
Work with Department managers and Lead Over haulers, Schedule and coordinate quarterly sessions for technician development.
Perform other duties as assigned by Tw/Hs Superintendent.
Assist other manufacturing department personnel as needed.
4-year Engineering degree required;
Chemical, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering degree preferredStrong communication skills (written and oral)
Strong project management skills
Six Sigma Black Belt trained or willingness to complete training
Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite (preferred)
Previous manufacturing experience (preferred)
(Based upon experience level of candidate selected, position may be filled as a Process Engineer or Sr. Process Engineer
