Job Summary
The General Laborer assists in the performance of a variety of plant activities from clean‑up, stick laying, packaging, maintenance support, etc.

Essential Functions/Duties- Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non‑compliant activities.
- Perform a variety of routine physical labor tasks, as assigned. Areas could include maintenance, stacking, kilns, shipping, receiving, treating, yard maintenance.
- Understand the job assigned and ask questions if uncertain.
- Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, and debris, cleaning work areas and performing touch‑up work as needed.
- Perform Fire Watch duties as needed to support the maintenance team.
- May operate a vehicle, forklift, or tractor.
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
- Computer duties as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance is encouraged.
- Ability to take direction and learn in a hands‑on environment.
- Ability to safely operate mobile equipment.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
- Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
- Ability to be self‑motivated to perform a task using his or her own drive or initiative.

Skills:
Basic computer skills with an ability to learn.
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. It could be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy. May require climbing of heights up to 100 feet.
Training RequirementsImmediately upon hire or assignment, training will take place in Safety and Environmental programs. Annual training over all programs.
