Job Summary
The General Laborer assists in the performance of a variety of plant activities from clean‑up, stick laying, packaging, maintenance support, etc.

Essential Functions/Duties- Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non‑compliant activities.
- Perform a variety of routine physical labor tasks, as assigned, in areas such as maintenance, stacking, kilns, shipping, receiving, treating and yard maintenance.
- Understand the job assigned and ask questions if uncertain.
- Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills and debris, cleaning work areas and performing touch‑up work as needed.
- Perform Fire Watch duties as needed to support the maintenance team.
- May operate a vehicle, forklift or tractor.
- Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
- Computer duties as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
- Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance is encouraged.
- Ability to take direction and learn in a hands‑on environment.
- Ability to safely operate mobile equipment.
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion or job type.
- Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s values and accepted standards.
- Ability to be self‑motivated to perform a task using own drive or initiative.
- Computer skills: basic computer skills with an ability to learn.
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. Conditions can be hot, cold, humid or rainy. May require climbing heights up to 100 feet.
Training RequirementsImmediately upon hire or assignment to the Forklift Operator position, training will take place in safety and environmental programs. Annual training across all programs.
