Weekend Machine Operator – Bags and Film

The Weekend Machine Operator – Bags and Film is responsible for operating and monitoring production equipment, maintaining quality standards, completing production documentation, packaging finished products, and ensuring efficient manufacturing operations. This position supports production goals by performing equipment adjustments, quality inspections, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment while meeting customer specifications and production requirements.
Schedule:12‑Hour
Shifts:
6:00 AM–6:00 PM or 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
36 Hours Per Week with Opportunity to Work Up to 40 Hours
- Day Shift: $23.00/hour
- Night Shift: $26.00/hour (+$3.00 Shift Differential)
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform continuous inspections of product both visual as well as through the use of micrometers and record product and process parameters.
- Complete all necessary paperwork as required, giving particular attention to product weights and scrap.
- Package product according to instructions.
- Keep extrusion lines, equipment, and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
- Operate lines, maintaining proper speeds, adjustments, to ensure the line is operating at the specified production rates and producing a product that meets the quality specifications.
- Weigh and scan all finished goods in the data acquisition system.
- Palletize and band finished product.
- Ability to shut down bag machines properly.
- Ability to set counters, winders and bag machines per job.
- Ability to read and understand each job order.
- Ability to make minor adjustments on winders such as speed, tension and core alignments on shafts.
- Cut plastic from cores using a utility knife and wearing proper PPE.
- Cut cores using a table saw.
- Maintain a clean environment in all areas of the facility.
- Using the correct sized pallet, stacking finished goods on the pallet, and wrapping and labeling a finished pallet per customer specifications.
- Inspect for quality per specification sheet.
- They must be attentive and self-motivated.
- Read and comprehend a standard US English tape measure.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned by shift supervisor or facility management.
- Ability to work individually and in teams.
- Ability to package product.
- Ability to recognize quality issues.
- High school diploma/GED.
- 2+ years working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills.
- Able to multi-task in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Capable of lifting 50+ pounds unassisted.
- Able to work on foot for long periods of time.
- Reliable mode of transportation.
