* * OVERVIEW
* * The Foundry Quality Technician is responsible for supporting product quality through inspection, testing, and documentation of cast products. This role ensures materials meet engineering, quality, and safety standards by working closely with Manufacturing and Quality teams. The technician performs inspections, material testing, and data entry while contributing to continuous improvement and ISO quality system requirements.
** RESPONSIBILITIES*
* • Follow all GIW safety, environmental, and housekeeping requirements and use required PPE.
• Perform inspections and testing on in-process and returned castings to identify defects or quality concerns.
• Support first-article inspections and part qualification activities through visual and dimensional inspections.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Accurately document inspection and test results and communicate findings to Manufacturing and Quality teams.
• Create and maintain SAP quality notifications, inspection records, and test results.
• Perform routine checks and support calibration of inspection and testing equipment.
• Conduct material testing including chemical analysis (ARL), tensile testing, and basic metallurgical evaluations as required.
• Perform non-destructive testing (VT, LPI, UT) in accordance with procedures, training, and certification level.
• Support ISO 9001 quality system requirements, internal audits, and corrective action activities.
• Participate in safety audits and promote safe work practices within the foundry.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support quality and manufacturing objectives.
** QUALIFICATIONS*
* • Working knowledge of quality and safety practices in an industrial environment.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to learn and use SAP and electronic quality systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Basic to intermediate math skills for measurements and test data interpretation.
** Education & Experience*
* • High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
• Technical training, associate degree, or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Experience in a manufacturing, foundry, or quality inspection environment preferred.
• Experience with material testing, chemical analysis, or non-destructive testing is an asset.
