Thomson, United States | Posted on 07/09/2026

The Process Technician is a hands‑on technical role at the center of Amcor’s injection molding operation. This individual is responsible for the daily performance of injection molding presses at P8 — from startup through shutdown, including mold changes, process troubleshooting, cycle time optimization, and on‑going mold preventive maintenance.

We’re growing fast and taking on increasingly complex programs. The right person is technically sharp, takes pride in running clean, efficient presses, and brings a proactive mindset to catching and solving process issues before they become production problems. This is a role with real technical impact, direct visibility to division leadership, and clear growth opportunity as the division expands.

Note on title:
Candidates with 3+ years of setup/process experience will be considered at the Process Technician level. Candidates with 1–2 years of strong mold setup experience who show clear technical aptitude may be considered at the Mold Setter level with a defined development path to Process Technician.

Requirements

Press Operations & Process Management

  • Execute press startups and shutdowns per established procedures; load and verify process parameters from machine memory and job documentation
  • Monitor running presses throughout the shift for process deviations, quality issues, and equipment anomalies
  • Continuously optimize cycle times and process parameters to maximize productivity while meeting quality standards
  • Troubleshoot common molding defects systematically (short shots, flash, sink marks, warpage, dimensional variation, surface defects, etc.) and implement approved process corrections
  • Document all process changes, parameter adjustments, and deviations per ISO 9001 procedures and shift logs

Mold Changes & Setup

  • Perform and assist with mold changes on injection molding presses ranging from 725–3,300 tons
  • Verify all mold connections during setup — cooling water, hot runner wiring, hydraulic lines, ejector connections, and clamping
  • Confirm process parameters, run first articles, & obtain quality approval prior to full production release
  • Properly store and log molds after removal per tooling procedures

Auxiliary Equipment

  • Set up and operate thermolators / temperature controllers, resin dryers, granulators/grinders, material loaders, conveyors, sprue pickers, and any other press‑side ancillary equipment
  • Ensure auxiliary equipment is running correctly and efficiently at all times during the shift

Mold Preventive Maintenance

  • Conduct minor mold PMs including visual inspection, cleaning, greasing of moving components (lifters, sliders, ejector pins), and identification of wear or damage
  • Document mold condition following each PM and communicate any issues to the Lead Process Technician
  • Participate in post‑run mold inspections before tooling goes to storage

Quality & Safety

  • Inspect finished parts against quality specifications; flag any non‑conforming product immediately and follow NCR procedures
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment; adhere to all LOTO, PPE, and safety procedures at all times
  • Communicate equipment maintenance needs to the technical and maintenance teams proactively

Additional

  • Support new program launches, mold qualification trials, and material changeovers
  • Respond to production emergencies as required, including occasional off‑shift callouts
  • Operate lift trucks and fork trucks as required (certification required or must be obtainable)
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of division production and quality goals
Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical / vocational training in plastics or manufacturing a plus

Experience

  • Process Technician level: 3+ years in injection molding in a setup or process technician role
  • Mold Setter level: 1–2 years of hands‑on mold setup experience with demonstrated technical aptitude and growth trajectory

Required Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with injection molding machine setup and process management on presses from 725–3,300 tons
  • Working knowledge of injection molding process parameters — fill, pack, hold, cooling — and their effects on part quality
  • Experi…
