Position Summary

The Process Technician is responsible for working safely and ensuring quality, setup, production, efficiency, productivity, and equipment maintenance for the entire facility. The technician ensures that all equipment in either the front or back half of the plant operates per the standards for each machine and can start, changeover, and operate all extrusion machines in their assigned half.

Job Responsibilities
  • Read, comprehend, and follow all specifications in the job folder.
  • Complete all required paperwork (pallet slips, job folders, special customer requirements, and other forms as assigned by the shift supervisor).
  • Start, changeover, and operate all equipment for either the front or back half of the plant.
  • Front Half:
    Machines 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35.
  • Back Half:
    Machines 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65.
  • Use/additive feeders.
  • Insert J‑knife, tube slitter assemblies, slitter knives, and other cutting tools required for the job.
  • Set up and take trim.
  • Set up print presses, maintain, and clean them.
  • Understand the mixing operation and how components affect the extrusion/film process.
  • Operate all aspects of the mixing operation.
  • Operate all benders in the plant, including programming blends.
  • Know the silos, their operation, and the material in them.
  • Operate any production line in P1 facility, including accessory equipment such as pelletizer or munchy.
  • Maintain proper speeds, adjustments, etc., to ensure quality product and production rates.
  • Perform continuous inspections of product visually and with micrometers, recording product and process parameters.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, noting product weights and scrap.
  • Package product according to instructions.
  • Keep extrusion lines, equipment, and surrounding areas clean and orderly.
  • Use lifting equipment and forklift on a regular basis. Forklift certified.
  • Set up gussets and A‑frames.
  • Give and receive instructions professionally.
Basic Skills
  • Cut plastic from cores using a utility knife with proper PPE.
  • Cut cores using a table saw.
  • Maintain a clean environment in all facility areas.
  • Use correct sized pallet, stack finished goods, and wrap and label the finished pallet per customer specifications.
  • Inspect for quality per specification sheet.
  • Be attentive and self‑motivated.
  • Read and comprehend a standard US English tape measure.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned by shift supervisor or facility management.

Education / Qualifications / Background Requirements
  • High school diploma/GED.

  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Capable of lifting 50+ pounds unassisted.
  • Able to work on foot for long periods of time.
  • Climb stairs, crouch, kneel, bend.
  • Reliable mode of transportation.
  • Good communicator.

Compensation:
Starting weekend pay at $24/hr plus a $3.00 differential pay when working night shift.
Monthly Production Bonus.
