Overview
Join KJ's Market as a Co-Manager! Grow with grocery at W Lee flowers, home of Kj's Market and IGA Southeast grocery stores. We re family-owned and based in the Carolinas, looking for smiling faces just like yours. A Co-Manager ensures the effective and profitable operation of the assigned retail store and actively pursues self-development to be prepared for a store manager role.
Responsibilities- Assist the store manager in implementing an in-store sales-building culture that drives growth through merchandising programs, weekly sales plans in each department, weekly sales themes, in-stock conditions, and participation in weekly sales meetings.
- Provide high levels of customer satisfaction, courtesy, and service throughout the store, with emphasis on fast front-end service.
- Be accountable for achieving budgeted financial results in the assigned area and assist the store manager in achieving total store results.
- Protect company assets: merchandise, cash, facilities, and equipment. Conduct weekly manager audits on front-end, DSD receiving, and pricing; support shrink function activities.
- Control store variable expenses, including achieving budgeted wage percent.
- Assist in staffing the store, including forecasting needs, recruitment, and training. Build a talent planning bench and develop plans for hi-potential and promo table individuals.
- Ensure direct reports understand performance expectations, are held accountable for budgeted results, and receive regular feedback and annual performance reviews.
- Maintain constant awareness of store conditions through regular store walks.
- Train and develop the store management team, especially department managers, to ensure leadership depth for growth. Serve as a resource for these leaders.
- Ensure sanitation and food safety standards are maintained throughout the store (measured through internal and external sources).
- Create a positive store morale atmosphere through effective supervision and recognition; foster a selling-focused, customer-centric culture.
- Provide and facilitate effective communication to the Store Manager, Field Merchandisers, and store employees.
- Ensure stores are run in compliance with company standards (as measured by ALI audits) and all federal, state, local statutes, regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain a safe facility for customers and employees.
The incumbent should possess the knowledge and skills generally associated with a Bachelor s degree plus 1-2 years of supermarket management experience.
