** Post-Doctoral Fellow, Intelligence and Computing Lab, Department of EEA Post-Doctoral Scholar position is available as soon as April 2026 in Dr. Qiuhua Huang’s Power, Intelligence and Computing (PIC) lab in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Colorado School of Mines (Golden, Colorado). The research at PIC lab lies at the intersection of power system, AI, computing and control and targets at energy system resilience, digitalization and decarbonization.

More information about PIC lab can be found at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). Post-Doctoral Researcher will work in the following areas
1) distribution or T&D system modeling, simulation, or digital twins develop and
2) Distribution system resilience to wildfire and natural hazards and
3) AI for the built environment and resilience (especially geospatial ML).  Funding is available for up to 12 months for the initial phase, with the possibility of extension if additional research funding is secured.  Candidates should have completed PhD by June 1, 2026.

** Primary Responsibilities
*** Support the PI to complete the assigned research tasks
* Participate in a weekly 1-hour meeting
* Meet weekly with each individual graduate student in research group for 30-60 minutes to provide research guidance
* Submit 2 proposals each year
* Submit 2 research papers each year
* Revise and resubmit other papers as needed
* Assist graduate students in submitting their work for publication, as appropriate
** Minimum Qualifications
*** PhD in electrical engineering,  or closely related field by June 1, 2026
* Expertise in power system simulation or resilience, OR physics-informed machine learning, OR geospatial data-driven modeling
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Demonstrated experience in distribution system modeling, quasi-static simulation, or digital twin development
* Prior work on wildfire risk, extreme events, or infrastructure resilience modeling
* Strong publication record in relevant areas
* Proficiency in Python and/or Java (experience with power system tools such as OpenDSS, GridLAB-D, Panda Power or Inter

PSS is a plus)
* Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Tensor Flow) and geospatial data processing
* Ability to work across physics-based and data-driven modeling
* Strong communication skills and ability to work in interdisciplinary teams
** Total Rewards:**$60,000 annual salary rate Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.
