Position: TEMPORARY Communications Center Customer Service Representative – Denver, CO

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) – PAYING $20.00 PER HOUR

This position develops methods for determining the best and most accurate answers to public inquiries. It determines the proper referral for information requests. Most requests are handled directly; some must be referred to the appropriate CPW employee or other agency staff. The position requires extensive knowledge of CPW programs and organizational structure for appropriate referrals.

Depending on the information request, the position uses training and procedural knowledge to identify the most appropriate source to answer the request. It benefits from a thorough understanding of available information resources including CPW Regulations and State Statutes Title 33.

  • Acts as an agent for the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Communications Center, researching and formulating accurate and timely answers to inquiries received through ASK CPW, phone, and mail. Judgment is used to assess customer needs and question complexity. The role may involve extensive research based on a thorough knowledge of CPW programs and procedures.
  • Disseminates Colorado State Parks information, wildlife related resources, educational materials, and provides customer assistance regarding OHV, boat, and snowmobile registrations, hunting, fishing, and camping inquiries received via call‑in, mail‑in, and e‑mail. Judgment based on established guidelines yields practical solutions to complex problems.
  • Answers specific questions about the status of customer accounts with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and uses computer programs such as word processing and database software.
  • May be requested to assist with training new employees.

This position could be assigned to assist with processing chronic wasting disease reimbursements for eligible customers and contacting hunters regarding positive chronic wasting disease results.

Basic Requirements
  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must have a current and valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
  • Applicants may be required to complete a comprehensive background check.
  • Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Must be available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with or working toward a Natural Resources degree or similar education.
  • Previous experience working with the public is helpful.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Experience with Google suites (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Drive) is required.
  • Bilingual ability is helpful but not required.
