GeneralStatement of Job Function
Instructional Designer Role – 75%
Prepare courses in Canvas for upcoming terms and assist with reporting and quality control as needed. Develop effective online courses of the Korean Global Campus in collaboration with the Korean Global Campus (KGC) professors. Assist faculty with the technical and administrative aspects of course production. Assist KGC students with technical support and serve as a concierge, a central point of contact and bridge to the various departments that comprise student support.
Media Specialist Role – 25% Create the media needed to develop and produce online courses. This position also manages and organizes the audio‑visual materials within the Korean Global Campus.
This is a part time position offering approximately 20-24 hours a week.
Essential Functions- Instructional Design/Course Development:
Guide KGC faculty course designers through the instructional design process to create, revise, and update online KGC courses that are characterized by learner-centered instruction, active learning, and the principles of adult education. - Assist faculty in the technical and administrative aspects of course design, directing the production of original course content. Work under the direction of the Director of Ed. Tech. and with the Director of the KGC to complete course developments.
- Instructional Support for KGC Courses:
Collaborate with Ed. Tech. Team and KGC instructors to prepare courses for the upcoming terms. Provide technical and instructional support. - KGC Faculty Development:
Collaborate with Ed. Tech. Team to develop resources, protocols, and training modules to train faculty in the principles of adult education, learner-centered teaching, and effective facilitation practices for the online environments. Conduct training in both formal settings and during informal opportunities. - Assist the Ed. Tech. Team to develop, update, and implement protocols impacting instructional design processes, course assessment, learning technologies, and department workflows.
- Review KGC syllabi and other curricular materials as needed.
- Syllabi/Site Alignment:
Conduct processes to align course syllabi and course Moodle sites. - Produce all KGC course lecture videos:
Schedule, record, & produce media in Korean. - Online Student Support:
Oversee the Korean Student Success Course and production of all necessary technical tutorials in Korean. Provide KGC students with technical support. This position is partially remote and will require flexible work hours due to time zones and the need for weekend support. - Assist other Ed Tech IDs with semester course creation and maintenance as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience to support the training of faculty.
- 2 years’ work experience in higher education preferred.
- 2 years’ work experience in the Instructional Design field is preferred.
- Korean and English Speaker (bilingual)
- Working knowledge of adult education principles and blended course design.
- Detail-oriented, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to quickly learn new software.
- Aptitude for technical writing and technical documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and online communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and approach interruptions as opportunities.
- Learning Management System skills required;
Moodle experience preferred. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe, HTML, media software, and digital video.
- Graphic design skills preferred.
