Summary

Plan for, prepare, and serve the students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of friendliness, efficiency, and cleanliness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare food according to planned menus and tested recipes.
  • Complete daily records, deposits, and money journals.
  • Determine the quantities of food to be prepared daily.
  • Communicate with kitchen employees, District staff, students, and community to arrange for and serve nutritious meals at assigned District schools.
  • Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in the safe and proper preparation of food.
  • Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
  • Order all necessary supplies in compliance with the order schedule.
  • Check food shipments by verifying orders and signing off on invoices.
  • Check equipment to ensure it is in safe working condition and notify the Nutrition office when repairs or replacements are needed.
  • Maintain kitchen employee time records and the monthly inventory of kitchen supplies.
  • Assist with catering events scheduled in assigned building and larger catering events outside of the building.
  • Attend staff development and manager meetings as offered.
  • Instruct new kitchen employees in performing their assigned tasks.
  • Evaluate the performance of all kitchen employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Education and Training

    High school diploma or equivalent. Two years of experience in food service; experience with school nutrition programs preferred.

    Training

    Mandatory Title IX training is required by the Colorado Department of Education for all public‑school employees. The training addresses harassment, discrimination, and bullying to foster a culture of safety and belonging.
