Title:
1 Para, Classroom Assistant – Job (Leroy Elementary School, Thornton, CO)
Assist students by helping individuals or small groups achieve reading, writing, and basic math skills, implementing instruction, reinforcing learning skills, and supporting school‑wide discipline procedures in a Title I designated school. Assist instructor in preparing classroom materials, monitoring students, and evaluating student achievement. Support students during remote learning. In the Dual Language Program, use Spanish to perform duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Implement teacher’s instruction plan and assist students with classroom activities.
- Provide tutoring individually and in small groups to ensure mastery of subjects.
- Supervise in‑person students during periods of remote learning.
- Provide direction, guidance, and discipline management; ensure student safety and security.
- Communicate with parents, staff, and teachers.
- Clean classroom areas, record attendance, and support students through their daily remote learning schedule.
- Assist teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, grading, and attendance tracking.
- Assist with paperwork and documentation as needed.
- Monitor students during breaks, recess, time‑outs, and field trips.
- Assist with special projects and provide first aid assistance or escort students to clinic or nurse.
- Perform other job‑related duties such as lunchroom/playground duty.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Meet one of the following: AA or 2‑year college degree; passing of state CDE approved paraprofessional examination; completion of Personal Commitment Plan within a defined timeline.
- No experience required, but experience with school‑aged children is preferred.
- In Dual Language Program: proficiency in Spanish required.
- In English as a Second Language area: complete approximately 15 hours of district‑administered ESL training within 3 months of starting.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- First Aid certification preferred.
- Completion of Adams County BOCES Safety Training Class within 30 days of start.

REQUIRED COMPENSATIONHourly rate: $18.27 – $22.53 (Step 1 – Step
8). Standard hours: 25 per week. FTE: 0.625. Months per year: 9.
