9. Grade: G7 (Hourly Range: $20.27 - $24.99). Minimum Hourly Rate: $20.27.
Assist students in Specialized Programs by providing specialized individualized instruction, academic support, monitoring behaviors, and functional life skills. Provide personal health and hygiene support, and assist students to and from classes and bus stops.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Provide support in a general education setting to enable full participation in class activities. Assist students in Specialized Programs by tutoring, adapting work, monitoring and enforcing social and acceptable behavior. May assist with administering testing or assessments, and with homework. Assist with related paperwork and data collection. Support implementation of the student’s programming including accommodations, modifications, additional plans (behavior plan, communication plan, etc.)
and other elements of the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP). - Assist special needs students in performing daily routines, including transportation to and from class and bus stops, toileting, diapering, feeding, medical needs, personal hygiene, and use of trach, feeding tubes, and catheterization. Support behavior plan implementation. Utilize CPI (Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention) techniques and safety monitoring.
- Sanitize, disinfect, and clean the learning environment and general work area of all bodily fluids. Follow all health and safety procedures according to standard precaution.
- Facilitate and encourage speech and language development through the use of alternate communication systems such as sign language or augmentative or alternative communication (AAC) devices.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to work with students with significant needs (training opportunities provided).
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre‑hire, post‑offer physical examination.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 3 months after entering position.
- Universal Precautions training required within 3 months after entering position.
- CPI/Safety Care training certification required within 3 months after entering position.
All classified positions are paid on an hourly basis. New hires are placed initially on Step 1 of the pay grade and may advance up to Step 8 based on experience. Final hourly placement depends on the grade level and prior work experience. For additional compensation information, refer to the Classified Master Agreement.
