Special Education Teacher - Thornton

Step into a valuable role supporting young learners by joining a district-wide effort to conduct bilingual early childhood evaluations. This contract position focuses on providing essential Special Education support across multiple elementary schools and district evaluation sites. Responsibilities:

• Conduct bilingual Child Find evaluations for early childhood students at North Star Elementary, Centennial Elementary, and additional district locations.
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary evaluation team, ensuring accurate assessments and individualized recommendations.
• Deliver both on-site services and district-level evaluations as needed.
• Maintain thorough documentation and communication with families and staff.
• Serve as a resource for educators and families regarding early intervention processes and educational supports.
• Participate in professional development and ongoing training as required.

Qualifications:

• Holds a valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license with an Early Childhood Special Education (SPED) endorsement.
• Bilingual proficiency, with the ability to conduct assessments in both English and another language.
• Experienced in early childhood special education or as a school psychologist (flexibility in role depending on applicant background).
• Familiarity with Child Find protocols and district-wide special education evaluation processes.
• Capable of working across multiple school sites, comfortable providing both individual and team-based support.
• Strong communication, assessment, and documentation skills.
• Able to complete required district credentialing before the start date.
