Boulder Clarifier

The city owns and operates the WRRF, which is rated for a maximum month flow of 25 MGD of wastewater. The WRRF began operations in 1968, and the capacity and complexity of its treatment process has evolved based on growth and water quality regulation progression. The WRRF’s current wastewater treatment process uses four (4) secondary clarifiers to separate secondary solids and scum from clean secondary effluent.

Three (3) of these were originally constructed and put into service circa 1987. These original three clarifiers are at the end of their useful life and in need of replacement.

Generally, the scope of work will involve:

  • Removal and replacement of two 110 ft diameter secondary clarifier mechanisms and associated ancillary components within existing basins
  • Removal, recoating, and reinstallation of existing bridges
  • Removal and reinstallation of existing weir brush units
  • Electrical and control system connections
  • Testing, startup, and training services
