Engineering Technician
Forge Nano Inc, a fast‑growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano‑scale coatings across a wide range of markets. The Engineering Technician supports engineering and manufacturing teams in the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and improvement of semiconductor equipment and subsystems. This role works closely with process engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and manufacturing teams to build, qualify, and improve equipment reliability and performance.
The technician plays a critical role in engineering prototype builds, tool qualification, debugging, and field support to ensure systems meet performance, reliability, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Assembly & Integration- Assemble semiconductor equipment and subsystems according to engineering drawings, schematics, and building instructions.
- Support prototype builds and engineering development tools.
- Install mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and gas delivery components.
- Assist with system integration and subsystem alignment.
- Support engineering validation testing and qualification activities.
- Execute engineering test plans and document results.
- Assist with FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and system verification.
- Support reliability testing and performance characterization.
- Diagnosing equipment issues, including:
- Vacuum systems
- Pneumatic valves
- Electrical control systems
- Sensors and instrumentation
- Work with engineers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Support continuous improvement and engineering change implementation.
- Support process engineers during tool qualification and process development.
- Assist with tool startup and calibration.
- Support customer tool installations and field troubleshooting when required.
- Record test results and operational data.
- Maintain building documentation and engineering logs.
- Update assembly procedures and work instructions as systems evolve.
- Follow cleanroom and lab safety protocols.
- Comply with ESD, vacuum, gas safety, and hazardous material procedures.
- Maintain compliance with ISO and quality standards.
- Associate degree or Technical Diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Mechatronics
- Semiconductor Manufacturing
- Related technical field
(Equivalent hands‑on experience may substitute.)
Experience- 2–5 years’ experience in:
- Semiconductor equipment
- Advanced manufacturing equipment
- R&D engineering labs
- Equipment builds or maintenance
- Mechanical assembly
- Vacuum systems
- Pneumatic systems
- Electrical wiring and troubleshooting
- Reading engineering drawings and schematics
- Instrumentation and sensors
- Data collection and documentation
- Semiconductor equipment (ALD, CVD, PVD, Etch)
- Cleanroom environment
- PLC systems
- Gas delivery systems
- High vacuum systems
- Strong hands‑on troubleshooting ability
- Attention to detail
- Ability to follow technical procedures
- Good documentation practices
- Team collaboration with engineers and manufacturing teams
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced engineering development environment
