Sun Share is a leading community solar company that partners with utilities and consumers to move from centralized power generation to distributed solar projects. The company has over 120 MW of operational projects and provides all full‑time employees with stock options.
Mission of the RoleThe Development Associate will work within a fast‑paced, high‑performing team to develop greenfield community solar projects in select markets. The position requires an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to collaborate directly with landowners, permitting agencies, engineers, and designers to advance Sun Share’s project pipeline.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develop projects under the direction of the Development Director up to the Notice to Proceed (NTP) milestone.
- Conduct desktop feasibility analyses, incorporating zoning, environmental, and interconnection considerations.
- Support the interconnection process, including preparing and submitting applications, tracking milestones, fees, and timelines.
- Coordinate with engineering, environmental, and survey consultants to advance project diligence.
- Assist in managing development budgets and tracking project spend.
- Prepare and submit land‑use permit applications and related documentation.
- Engage with local jurisdictions, community stakeholders, and participate in public hearings as required.
- Maintain accurate project data in internal project‑management systems.
- Track project milestones, risks, and timelines across development stages.
- Prepare internal updates and development summaries for leadership.
- Support the transition of projects to construction and operations teams.
- 2+ years of solar project development experience.
- 2+ years of experience in the solar or renewable energy field, or a related energy industry.
- Basic knowledge of electricity markets, utility rate tariffs, interconnection agreements, solar industry trends, and regulatory policies.
- Excellent sales and communication skills.
- Passion for fighting climate change and building a renewable energy future.
Base salary of $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience. All full‑time employees receive stock options.
