29 are working with a leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the team in either Colorado, Arizona or Nevada.
This is a client-facing consultancy role, providing specialist geotechnical advice across a diverse portfolio of mining, tailings, water, infrastructure and renewable energy projects. You will work closely with clients, multidisciplinary engineering teams and project stakeholders to develop practical, technically robust solutions from concept through to design, construction and ongoing asset management.
The role offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of projects, build strong client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of a specialist geotechnical consultancy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead geotechnical consultancy assignments from initial scope through to delivery.
- Provide independent technical advice and engineering recommendations to clients.
- Develop scopes of work, methodologies, budgets and project programmes.
- Lead and oversee geotechnical site investigations, fieldwork and laboratory testing.
- Interpret geotechnical data and develop appropriate engineering parameters.
- Undertake and review geotechnical analysis and design.
- Prepare high-quality technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Provide technical input across dams, tailings facilities, foundations, excavations, mine waste facilities and associated infrastructure.
- Support clients during construction and provide engineering advice when challenges arise.
- Act as a senior technical point of contact for clients and project teams.
- Manage and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
- Contribute to proposals, tenders, business development and winning new consultancy work.
- Help develop long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for further technical support.
We are particularly interested in engineers who enjoy the consultancy environment and can demonstrate experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
You should be comfortable moving between technical delivery, project management, client meetings, proposal development and business development activities.
Experience advising mining companies, infrastructure owners, developers, contractors or other major project stakeholders would be highly valued.
Technical BackgroundThe successful candidate will ideally have:
- A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, specialising in Geotechnical Engineering.
- 10+ years' geotechnical engineering experience, preferably within a consultancy environment.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
- Strong experience in mining, tailings, dams or major infrastructure.
- Experience leading geotechnical investigations and interpreting field and laboratory data.
- Strong geotechnical analysis, design and technical review capabilities.
- Excellent technical report writing and client communication skills.
- Experience managing technical scopes, budgets and deliverables.
- Proven ability to lead projects and mentor developing engineers.
Experience with Geo Studio and/or Roc Science is required.
Additional experience with gINT, FLAC, PLAXIS, Civil 3D or other geotechnical and civil engineering software would be advantageous.
