The Systems Administrator I plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and operation of the District’s IT systems, equipment, and infrastructure. Responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining systems, documenting procedures, and managing hardware and software components while maintaining strong customer service and clear communication.
Principal Responsibilities- Ensure continuous operation of District systems and infrastructure through monitoring, incident response, and routine maintenance.
- Manage and respond to customer-generated incidents and service requests, providing courteous support and troubleshooting in accordance with best practices.
- Administer, troubleshoot, implement, and maintain security measures to protect District resources and data.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and support infrastructure that meets IT Service Level Agreements and enhances customer experience.
- Contribute to development and execution of District systems and infrastructure, aligning initiatives with organizational goals.
- Assess new technologies for security risks and benefits, providing input in decision-making processes.
- Lead advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring industry expertise.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in information systems, computer science, systems administration, or related area. Two years of similar experience may substitute.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems and familiarity with virtualization (e.g., VMware) is a plus.
- Preferred one to two years of experience in key IT infrastructure areas: desktop management, virtualization, storage, digital data communications, application server support, wired/wireless networks, software development, or systems integration.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Preference for current industry-recognized certifications relevant to the Systems Administrator role.
Full-time positions (1.0 FTE) are salaried and may be adjusted based on experience. Administrative employees receive a salary commensurate with education and experience.
