About the Job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross‑functional partners across the company.

You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you are responsible for the functional success of the systems that power our data center network rollouts. You act as the critical link between the Physical Delivery team (who build the network) and the software engineer/SRE teams (who build the tools). Your goal is to ensure that our delivery ecosystem covering capacity tracking, workflow management, and fiber design is technically sound, operationally efficient, and integrated with our global inventory.

The role extends beyond oversight, you will architect the technical logic, validation rules, and automated workflows, and be directly involved in the direct coding and co‑development with engineering teams to ensure precise implementation and delivery of new features.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with GenAI and prompting techniques for automation.
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with automation or software tools used in data center environments.
  • Familiarity with network planning and engineering, including data center network engineering in complex environments.
Preferred Work Locations

Reston, VA, USA;
Thornton, CO, USA;
Kirkland, WA, USA;
Seattle, WA, USA.

Benefits
  • Health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance
  • Retirement Benefits: 401(k) with company match
  • Paid Time Off: 20 days of vacation per year, accruing at a rate of 6.15 hours per pay period for the first five years of employment
  • Sick Time: 40 hours/year (increased to 69 hours/year for Seattle) including 5 discretionary sick days per instance
  • Maternity Leave (Short-Term Disability + Baby Bonding): 28-30 weeks
  • Baby Bonding Leave: 18 weeks
  • Holidays: 13 paid days per year
Responsibilities
  • Define the technical requirements and business logic for the internal tool ecosystem. You ensure these tools meet the high‑velocity needs of the network delivery team.
  • Work with engineering teams to implement continuous improvement/continuous development‑style pipelines for physical infrastructure to design automated solutions.
  • Translate complex network engineering constraints (e.g., optical link budgets, rack density, port maps) into functional specifications that software engineers can build against.
  • Build and maintain scripts to automate workflows, specifically focusing on pulling data from network devices and APIs to streamline delivery.
  • Ensure the stability of delivery tools by applying version control, writing tests, and utilizing continuous improvement/continuous practices.
Compensation

US: $163,000 - $237,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits.
