A healthcare organization is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join its surgical services team. About the RoleThe Operating Room RN plays a vital role in supporting patients throughout the surgical experience. Working alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals, this position is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality care before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients for surgical procedures through comprehensive assessments and preoperative care
- Verify patient information, surgical procedures, and operative sites according to established safety protocols
- Administer medications, intravenous therapies, and treatments as prescribed
- Assist with surgical procedures while maintaining a sterile and safe operating environment
- Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative process and respond appropriately to changes in condition
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff to coordinate patient care
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and thoroughly
- Educate patients and family members regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and postoperative care
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, patient safety measures, and regulatory requirements
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance surgical outcomes and patient experiences
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Previous operating room or perioperative nursing experience preferred
- Advanced life support certifications preferred or ability to obtain
- Strong critical-thinking, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
