Boulder County Public Works Department is hiring an Apprentice Electrician
. The Apprentice Electrician is the entry-level classification in the Electrician series. The Electrician performs a variety of unskilled and skilled electrical duties in the construction, remodel, and maintenance of buildings and facilities.
This is a full-time, benefited position that will work Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm. This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines.
Location:
2525 13th St., Boulder, Colorado. Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $60,840.00 - $74,178.00 Annually

New employees receive an 80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Responsibilities:
Education & Experience:
- A high school diploma, or equivalent.
- 2 years of electrical experience.
- Additional related education may count toward required experience.
Driver's License:
- Applicants must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Background Check & Fingerprinting:
- A job offer is contingent on passing a background investigation with fingerprinting.
Pre-Employment Physical:
- Candidates for this position will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2 years of commercial experience.
- 2 years of trade school.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the use of materials, equipment and procedures used in the electrical trade.
- Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to electrical work.
- Skill in operation of a pickup truck as required by the position.
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and in all kinds of weather.
- Ability to work effectively with employees, other agencies and the public.
Physical Requirements:
Back and Upper Body (lifting):
Constantly lift with one or two hands tools and parts weighing 1-30 lbs. from floor to waist. Frequently lift tools and parts weighing 30-80 lbs. Occasionally lift parts weighing 60-80 lbs. and push and pull average 100 lb. force using various jacks and supporting devices.
Hands and Arms:
Must have strength and dexterity in both arms and both hands for constant use of all tools, including hammers, wrenches, and power tools of all sizes for long periods of time each day.
Body Movement:
Constantly stand, kneel, or lie on concrete floor. Must work in unusual positions, depending on the job being done. Frequently climb on and under equipment while carrying tools and parts weighing 1-30 lbs. Occasionally work out of shop on equipment broken down at job site or on roads in inclement weather.
