POSITION TYPE: REPLACEMENT – PERMANENT/REGULAR
Responsible for inspection, repair and maintenance of all district fleet vehicles, including light/medium/heavy duty diesel, gas, propane, and alternative powered school buses, warehouse trucks, support fleet vehicles, snow removal equipment and trailers. All inspections and repairs conform to Colorado Department of Education, Department of Transportation, OEM and District requirements, following all regulations and guidelines per FMVSS and FMCSR to ensure quality control and preventive maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in vehicle maintenance repairs, including medium/heavy duty diesel engines.
- Diesel or Automotive vocational or college certification preferred.
- Criminal background check required for hire.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license.
- Motor Vehicle Record at time of application.
- Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with P2 endorsement required within six months of hire.
- DOT Physical examination required for hire.
- Must be insurable through the District’s Self Insurance Pool.
- Ase School Bus Master or Medium-Heavy Truck Master certification, or Automobile & Light Truck Master with two additional ASE certifications within six months.
- Maintain valid Master ASE certifications throughout employment.
- CDE Inspector qualification (including air brake) required within one year of hire.
- Colorado Diesel Opacity license required within one year.
- DOT inspector qualifications required.
- Forklift operator certificate required within one year.
All classified positions are paid hourly, starting on Step 1 of the grade schedule. Employees may advance up to Step 8 based on experience. Hourly rates are determined by grade level. For additional compensation details, see the Classified Salary Schedule and Classified Master Agreement.
