Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Position Overview
Transdev is hiring a Second Shift Diesel Mechanic for our shop serving the City of Thornton, Colorado. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. Shift schedule:
Monday - Thursday, 1:00 pm – 11:30 pm. Final date to receive applications: 04/30/2026.
- Base pay: $30.00 – $50.00 per hour
- Additional $0.10 per hour for each ASE certification earned
- Vacation: minimum of two weeks
- Sick days: five days
- Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating)
- Other benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, voluntary long‑term disability; company‑paid ASE testing and training materials
- Perform preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections
- Diagnose and repair vehicle and equipment systems including brakes, suspensions, engines, drive trains, transmissions, and other components
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately
- Assist with road calls and emergency services as necessary
- Valid driver’s license required
- At least 3 years of automotive or diesel maintenance and repair experience or a combination of technical school education and experience
- Possess a mechanic’s tool set
- ASE certifications preferred; must be willing to participate in company ASE certification program (training, testing, and bonuses provided)
- Subject to DOT drug testing; no use of Schedule I drugs including marijuana
- Work outside in varying temperatures, weather, and humidity; perform 100 % of job outside, alone or in remote locations
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); walk long distances, navigate sloped ground or uneven surfaces
- Push, pull, lift objects up to 50 lbs; bend, kneel, or crouch for items at ground level
- Endure heavy traffic, dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
