SUMMARY

This position is a limited duration training role to become a district bus driver. The trainee must submit an individual Motor Vehicle Record hin four weeks, the trainee must be promoted to Bus Driver or employment terminated. On successful completion, the trainee will transport students safely, monitor behavior, and ensure student safety at crossings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safely transport students along bus routes, monitor student behavior, handle disputes, and communicate with transportation staff, parents, and school officials.

Perform daily pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, maintain bus cleanliness, and fuel vehicles according to guidelines.

Use two‑way radio communications and report unsafe conditions to the Scheduler/Dispatcher.

Work with special‑education and wheelchair students, ensuring proper use of restraints and confidentiality of student information.

Attend required meetings, trainings, first aid and CPR classes.

Verify route times, provide updates to the Scheduler, and complete required state mileage and student counts.

Perform other assigned duties, including annual comprehensive bus cleaning.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
No experience required.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, AND CERTIFICATIONS

Criminal background check required.
Minimum age 21 years.
Valid Colorado driver’s license.
Motor Vehicle Record submitted at application.
Department of Transportation physical required for hire.
Commercial driver’s license (CDL Class B with P2 S endorsement) required within one month after starting.
Meet Colorado Department of Education and FMCSR Part 382 requirements.
CPR and First Aid certifications within three months after starting.
