Grade Foreman – Asphalt Paving

We are seeking an experienced Grade Check Foreman to oversee grade control and field operations for asphalt paving and site development projects. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate elevations, slopes, and alignments while coordinating field crews to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in asphalt paving, grading, site preparation, and construction layout, along with proven leadership experience in a fast-paced construction environment.

• Perform grade checking and layout activities for asphalt paving, grading, and site development projects.
• Read and interpret grading plans, blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.
• Establish and verify elevations, slopes, benchmarks, and alignments using surveying equipment.
• Coordinate daily activities with project managers, superintendents, and field crews.
• Ensure proper preparation of subgrade, aggregate base, and paving surfaces.
• Monitor paving operations to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
• Identify and resolve grade discrepancies and field issues.
• Maintain accurate project documentation, measurements, and field reports.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Lead, train, and mentor field personnel.
• Communicate effectively with inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.

• 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving, grading, heavy civil, or site development construction.
• Previous experience as a Grade Checker, Grade Check Foreman, or similar field leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of grade control, site layout, and asphalt paving operations.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grading plans.
• Experience using laser levels, GPS systems, total stations, and related surveying equipment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on active construction sites.

• Experience with commercial paving, parking lots, roadways, and residential developments.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
• Heavy equipment operating experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work on construction sites for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends as project schedules require.
