Overview
Cal Lutheran College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for part‑time adjunct faculty positions for the Fall and Spring semesters. These positions are staffed on an ongoing basis and the selected candidate will work under the direction of the Dean, Department Chair, or Program Director.
Responsibilities- Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses, assessing and developing cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher‑order thinking skills in one‑on‑one, classroom, and distance‑mediated settings.
- Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback.
- Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and learning outcomes, aligning with departmental and university mission.
- Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, academic progress, curriculum, and outcomes; prepare and submit related reports.
- Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty; order materials following campus bookstore procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree from a recognized institution or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the subject field or discipline.
- Experience delivering a course curriculum in varied learning styles.
- Sensitivity to diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students.
- Understanding of the needs of students with disabilities.
- Ability to integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies.
- Professional standards that protect student confidentiality.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with tact, patience, and courtesy.
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment; ability to speak, exchange information, provide instruction and make presentations; standing or sitting for extended periods; lifting lightweight objects; bending and reaching to retrieve files. Work will be conducted in indoor classroom environments, with occasional travel to other campus sites.
