Under the direction of the Dean, the faculty member is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned graduate courses. The faculty member will serve as a mentor to students; contribute to department and university activities asneeded; and provide service to faculty and/or university committees as outlined in the faculty handbook.
The Department of Learning & Teaching offers credential programs in Multiple Subject (elementary), Single Subject(secondary), and Educational Specialists (Mild to Moderate Support Needs, Extensive Support Needs, and Deaf and Hard of Hearing).Common responsibilities for the position include teaching in the programs, student advisement, and service to the university and broader community.
Representative Duties- Primary responsibilities for this position include teaching 24units/year.
- Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab,or performance courses; create assignments and activities inone-on-one, classroom, and distance mediated instructional settings for development of cognitive abilities, communication skills, andhigher order thinking skills among students.
- Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments,projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in atimely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours.
- Integrate current and emerging instructional delivery technologies into the learning process across classroom and online settings.
- Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment,attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum; prepare and submit grades, data, and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner.
- Teach and hold office hours in person on campus, at least 4days per week.
- Provide a course syllabus to students in each class within thefirst week of the class, as outlined in the faculty handbook.
- Adhere to the responsibilities related to teaching, advising,service, and scholarly, professional, and creative activities for Assistant Professors as outlined in the faculty handbook.
- Participate in service to the department, school, university,and P-22/K-12 community.
- Attend departmental and school-wide meetings.
- Support teacher candidates in completing their edTPA.
- Contribute to accreditation activities as needed.
- Evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
