Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager – Water Treatment Plant Construction
Location: Thousand Oaks, California
Start Date: Mid–Late March (potentially sooner for the right candidate)
Compensation: $120,000 – $150,000 annually

A leading General Contractor is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to provide long-term safety leadership for a 5-year Water Treatment Plant construction project in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a direct-hire position offering strong compensation, stability, and the opportunity to manage EHS strategy on a high-profile infrastructure project.
We are looking for a proactive safety professional with 5–8 years of construction safety experience
, ideally with large civil, infrastructure, or water facility projects.
- Partner with the Project Manager and leadership team to develop and implement a site-specific EHS plan aligned with corporate, divisional, and regional EHS standards.
- Support Project Managers and EHS teams in coordinating subcontractor EHS programs
, ensuring full compliance for subcontractors, vendors, and owner personnel. - Lead planning and coordination efforts to minimize hazards, reduce risk, and prevent injuries or property damage.
- Conduct and coordinate quarterly EHS audits and ongoing project inspections for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage and document incident investigations
, including root cause analysis and corrective actions. - Accompany injured employees to medical evaluations and ensure post-incident EHS protocol compliance.
- Advise project teams on industrial hygiene requirements and perform environmental monitoring as needed.
- Oversee and enforce the company’s Drug-Free Workplace Program (pre-employment, random, post-incident, etc.).
- Conduct new-hire EHS orientations, site training, and ongoing safety education programs.
- Administer corporate SPAT processes and provide weekly EHS updates to senior leadership.
- Maintain strong communication, critical thinking, and safety leadership throughout the project lifecycle.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Civil Engineering, Construction Management
, or related field — or equivalent experience. - CHST certification (Construction Health & Safety Technician) required.
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience (water treatment or civil projects strongly preferred).
- Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, and injury prevention methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb stairs/ladders, and access active construction areas.
