Mechanical Engineer, Estimator

Job SummaryResponsible for preparing and/or coordinating the preparation of full cost estimates on large and complex projects as required by the client’s documents.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Actively gather and disseminate market intelligence for each estimating job by talking directly with the buyer, the end user, vendors, and/or other sources of information.
- Interpret customer drawings, specifications, and requirements as the basis for formulating quotation strategies.
- Work with Estimating, Engineering, and Sales Departments to analyze customer requirements and develop a winning strategy for every quotation.
- Identify the optimum cost/availability of materials within the customer’s approved material supplier or country of origin list and prepare material and labor estimates used in the quotation process.
- Learn to effectively utilize all estimating documentation and electronic programs to prepare the bill of materials and labor estimate for all quotations.
- Complete all documentation on time and in an organized manner consistent with company policies and management directives.
- Mechanical Engineering degree or HVAC experience.
- 4+ years' experience in estimation with a focus on NAVFAC or federally funded projects.
- An overall broad understanding of all types of Mechanical systems, such as Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, primary and secondary piping, HVAC ductwork, RTUs, AHUs, and VAVs.
- Experience with tooling, machining, fabrication, or construction environments and industries.
- Must be fluent with Office Suite (SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Strong technical writing skills and the ability to read and interpret drawings and/or construction plans are required for success.
- This position requires strong negotiating and organizational skills, the ability to perform detailed work promptly, follow up through order closure, and manage the order throughout the manufacturing process.

$90,000 - $125,000 per year
