Associate Scientist

Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking an Associate Scientist for an onsite position with a Global Biotechnology Company located in Thousand Oaks, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.

Summary:
This role is with the Protein Therapeutics (PT) group, joining the Protein Chemistry team at a state-of-the-art research facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biochemistry and hands-on experience with protein purification and analytics, using various preparative and analytical chromatography techniques. PT is a multidisciplinary team with broad capabilities in protein engineering, expression, purification, and characterization.

Responsibilities:

• Perform protein purification using various preparative protein chromatography techniques (affinity, ion-exchange, size-exclusion, etc.)
• Conduct protein analytics using various analytical techniques (HPLC, MCE, etc.)
• Capture experimental data in LIMS/ELN systems
• Compile and analyze large datasets of protein purification and analytics results
• Summarize and present results and findings to work groups and project teams
• Contribute to the development of new processes and methods

Requirements:

• Master's degree OR Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience OR Associate's degree and 4 years of experience OR High school diploma / GED and 6 years of experience
• Strong background in biochemistry
• Hands-on experience with protein purification with expertise in a variety of chromatography techniques (affinity, ion-exchange, size-exclusion, etc.)
• Experience with protein analytical techniques (HPLC, MCE, etc.)
• Strong data management and handling skills
• Ability to work full-time, onsite 5 days per week during standard business hours

Desired Skills:

• Proficiency with lab software such as Unicorn, Chromeleon, or Chrom Lab
• Experience with protein analytical analysis software such as Chromeleon or Lab Chip
• Familiarity with lab automation and high-throughput purification workflows
• Experience with data management and/or analysis platforms, software or tools
• Ability to multi-task, work flexibly and efficiently in a cross-functional environment
• Attention to detail with strong communication and interpersonal skills

Pay range: $30.09 - $33.44 per Hour
