Senior Director, Technology, Operations, and Data Enablement
Lead enterprise technology, operations, and data enablement initiatives for Amgen’s Obesity organization, driving data‑driven decisions across commercial, medical, finance, and other functions. The role blends technology strategy, operational excellence, applied analytics, and AI partnership, while managing a small high‑impact team of data scientists.
Responsibilities- Define and execute the Technology & Operational Enablement agenda for Obesity Intelligence & Analytics, ensuring scalable platforms, workflows, and execution discipline.
- Own the Obesity decision‑intelligence roadmap, aligning data assets, analytics products, and technology capabilities with business priorities.
- Build a governed, AI‑ready Obesity data ecosystem and decision‑intelligence gateway, including data models, semantic layers, and reusable data products.
- Lead end‑to‑end strategic data partnerships and purchases, translating priorities into a sequenced data roadmap and negotiating vendor contracts.
- Partner with the AI & D team to validate, pilot, and scale AI‑enabled solutions, ensuring governance and responsible use.
- Oversee governance, quality, compliance, and data protection standards for analytics products, AI tools, and supplier outputs.
- Mentor and lead a high‑performing team, influencing cross‑functional stakeholders and establishing operating rhythms that improve decision speed and accountability.
- Represent the Obesity business in the enterprise data, AI‑D, IS, and GCCI communities, driving standardization of metrics, definitions, and reporting cadences.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior and executive leaders, framing ambiguous business questions and translating insights into actionable strategies.
- Manage the flexible‑commuter role, coordinating an on‑site presence at the Thousand Oaks, CA campus at least three days per week.
Basic Qualifications
- Doctorate degree and 5 years of analytics, data strategy, or related experience.
- Master’s degree and 7 years of analytics, data strategy, or related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of analytics, data strategy, or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supporting commercial strategy within General Medicine and/or Obesity.
- Proven ability to lead large‑scale analytics organizations with measurable business impact.
- Strong expertise in secondary data, analytics, and AI‑enabled methodologies.
- Track record of translating complex insights into clear strategic and tactical actions.
- Experience acting as a trusted advisor to senior and executive leadership.
- Strong people‑leadership capabilities, including development of managers and future leaders.
- Ability to frame and solve ambiguous business problems using structured, data‑driven approaches.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across functions and leadership levels.
- Exceptional oral, written, and visual communication skills, simplifying complex concepts for executive audiences.
- Ability to influence decisions and outcomes in a highly matrixed environment.
- Annual salary range: $210,100 – $284,254 (U.S.).
