Our client is a nationwide real estate and property management platform overseeing a diversified and growing portfolio that includes affordable housing, multifamily, and select commercial assets. As the organization enters its next phase of growth—including expansion into third-party property management—it is seeking a Vice President of Accounting & Finance to serve as the senior financial leader for its property management business.
The Vice President of Accounting & Finance is a key member of the leadership team and functions as the financial steward and strategic partner for a large, complex, and scaling property management platform. Reporting to the EVP of Property Management, this role operates in many respects as the CFO of the property management organization, with responsibility for financial integrity, accounting operations, compliance, and strategic financial leadership.
The VP collaborates closely with executive leadership to guide decision-making, support growth initiatives, and ensure the organization has the financial systems, controls, and insights required to scale responsibly.
- Serve as the senior financial and accounting leader for the property management business, overseeing all corporate and property-level accounting and reporting
- Partner with the EVP and leadership team on financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, cash planning, and long-term growth initiatives
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes and develop executive-level financial reporting, dashboards, and KPIs
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory standards
- Oversee internal controls, risk management, intercompany accounting, and financial systems to support operational scale
- Provide executive oversight of audits, lender reviews, tax compliance, and affordable housing program requirements (including HUD and LIHTC)
- Lead, develop, and mentor accounting team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture
- Drive process improvement, efficiency, and scalability through systems optimization, automation, and organizational design
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
- CPA required or equivalent senior-level accounting expertise
- 15+ years of progressive accounting or finance leadership experience, including senior-level oversight
- Extensive experience in property management accounting and multi-entity financial environments
- Strong knowledge of affordable housing programs, nonprofit reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership, influence decision-making, and support organization
- Roll‑up‑sleeves attitude and interest to work within a no‑ego culture
Targeting a base compensation of ~$190-235k
