As a RN First Assist PRN TOSH, your voice to influence patient care is valued and empowered at every turn – whether through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager or more formal opportunities through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You'll help shape decisions that elevate both patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Performs direct patient care through utilization of the nursing process in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act, physician orders, hospital policies and procedures, and established professional standards. The RN is responsible and accountable for the delivery of safe, competent care either through direct delivery of that care or appropriate delegation and for performance improvement and quality initiatives as appropriate.

• Assess the health status of the patient in order to develop an individualized plan of care by collecting, categorizing, and interpreting data (physical and psychosocial) from documented information, observation, patient/family interview, and other health care team members.
• Instruct the patient and family to assist the patient in the achievement of optimal health status, and document nursing activities to provide a permanent record for continuity of care, quality improvement, and professional accountability.
• Plan, supervise, and assist with the transfer of the patient to protect the patient and personnel from injury.
• Coordinate support services needed during surgery by anticipating and communicating patient and surgical team needs.
• Provide assigned patients and families with explanation of procedures, treatments, and medications.
• Demonstrate organizational, time‑management, and priority‑setting skills.
• Ensure knowledge of hospital and department performance improvement initiatives and participate actively to contribute to improvement efforts.

• Valid California RN license.
• Current BCLS certification.
• Current CRNFA certification.
• Minimum of one year of experience in specialty preferred.
• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of one year of acute care hospital experience in an area of specialty preferred.
