Job Summary and Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the unit and the broader hospital, managing hospital throughput, float pool program, and capacity management across the enterprise.
  • Serve as the patient throughput communications liaison, focusing on hospital-wide patient flow and coordinating discharge to admission from the ED.
  • Identify and remove barriers to patient movement, facilitating efficient and safe transitions.
  • Assume 24-hour responsibility for coordinating safe, efficient, therapeutically effective nursing care for float pool, discharge center, and patient safety attendants.
  • Ensure compliance, accuracy, and training related to the electronic bed board and implement Capacity Management Guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN required.
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or related health field preferred (or actively in progress).
  • Current California nursing license required.
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications required.
  • Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) or Nursing Administration (CNA) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in an acute clinical area; at least 2 years in a leadership/management role required.
  • Experience with intake centers, managing transfers and intake processes preferred.
