Odin Metrology was all but closed down until Mike Dickerson of MD Acoustics bought the company in spring of 2026. We are actively improving and looking to grow. We are currently ISO 9001 certified and actively upgrading our Quality Management System (QMS) to achieve ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.
We are looking for a meticulous and analytically minded Calibration Technician / Metrologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing precision calibrations on a wide range of acoustic and vibration measurement instruments, including sound level meters, dosimeters, microphones, piston phones, calibrators and accelerometers. You will play a critical role in ensuring our lab maintains its high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities- Perform automated and manual calibrations on acoustic and vibration instrumentation adhering to strict internal and manufacturer procedures.
- Generate accurate calibration certificates, test reports, and maintain detailed records of all measurements.
- Evaluate calibration data to determine "Pass/Fail" conditions and calculate measurement uncertainties.
- Perform routine maintenance, verification, and calibration of the lab’s primary reference instrumentation.
- Assist in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and performing minor repairs on lab and customer equipment when necessary.
- Ensure all work complies with the lab’s quality management system, in accordance with ISO 9001 & ISO/IEC 17025 standards. (We are currently working on becoming ISO/IEC 17025 accredited.)
- Communicate technical calibration results or equipment issues clearly to the lab manager and occasionally directly to clients.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in metrology, calibration, Electrical Engineering, or a highly related technical field (Military PMEL / TMDE training is highly desirable).
- Strong understanding of metrology principles, including traceability, measurement uncertainty, and calibration intervals.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems and requirements.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
- High proficiency with computers, calibration software, and Microsoft Excel.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to distinctly communicate with team members.
- Experience/understanding of connectors and cabling.
- Direct experience calibrating acoustic (microphones, sound level meters, etc.) or vibration (accelerometers, shakers, etc.) equipment.
- Familiarity with specific industry-standard brands (Brüel & Kjær, Larson Davis, PCB, G.R.A.S.).
- Experience writing or modifying automated calibration procedures.
- Electrical Engineering experience with the ability to create custom testing cables.
