What You Will DoThe Department of Inflammation Research seeks a dedicated, driven, and independent Principal Scientist (manager) to join the In Vivo Pharmacology (IVP) group. You will design and execute experiments exploring and understanding the pharmacology of drug targets; generate, communicate pharmacology and preclinical data to support research progression; and provide technical expertise to therapeutic area scientists. This role may involve managing one report, contributing to project teams, and collaborating across multiple Amgen sites.

- Strong understanding of immunology and inflammation biology and principles.
- Willingness and curiosity to learn and explore new areas of research.
- Significant hands‑on expertise in animal (mouse and rat) handling and in vivo techniques (i.v., i.p., p.o., i.d., s.c., i.t., bleeds, necropsy) preferred.
- Significant experience designing and executing concurrent in vivo preclinical inflammation and autoimmune disease models. Preferred experience with colitis (DSS, CD45RB
hi T cell transfer, IL‑10 KO), lupus (NZB/W, MRL‑lpr, Imiquimod), arthritis (CIA, CAIA), GvHD models; experience in HS, PBC a plus. - Hands‑on experience in cellular, biochemical, histological, and molecular biology assay techniques (e.g., ELISA, MSD, quantitative RT‑PCR, BCA protein measurements) preferred. Hands‑on experience with multicolor flow cytometry including spectral flow approaches and immune cell populations is essential.
- Computer literacy, especially proficiency with Graph Pad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, accurate & timely record‑keeping and data analysis are essential.
- Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement.
- Demonstrated experience in pharmacology and in vivo models of inflammation/immunology.
- Ability to work in a flexible, team‑oriented environment.
- Doctorate degree OR
- Masters degree and 2 years of drug discovery experience OR
- Bachelors degree and 4 years of drug discovery experience
- PhD degree and post‑doctoral training (or drug discovery experience) in the fields of immunology, inflammation, autoimmune disease, or related disciplines; 3‑5 years of management experience in industry or academia.
- Experience working on project teams leading in vivo contributions.
