Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology, Inflammation Research (Respiratory Focus)
In this vital role you will lead a highly dynamic in vivo pharmacology team executing in vivo preclinical disease models and in vitro assays in the vivarium and lab supporting pipeline programs. You will manage interactions and present results with project teams and collaborators.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and perform hands‑on in vivo work and run concurrent studies in mice or possibly rats
- Serve as manager with at least two direct reports (Scientists and Associate Scientists)
- Design experiments, oversee study execution, and ensure studies are completed on schedule
- Act as in‑vivo PTR on project teams, representing and communicating in‑vivo data to project teams and departments
- Mentor, support, and manage direct reports’ performance, development, and supervision
- Maintain organization, attention to detail, and study preparation
- Participate in panels/seminars as part of interview/hiring and in broader scientific communication as needed
- Participate in weekend or evening dosing rotations when required

Basic Qualifications- Doctorate degree (PhD, PharmD, or MD) with immunology experience; OR Master’s degree and 3 years of immunology or related experience; OR Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of immunology or related experience
- Willingness and curiosity to learn and explore new areas of research
- Significant experience executing in vivo preclinical respiratory disease models (asthma – OVA, HDM; COPD – elastase, smoke extract; bleomycin fibrosis – i.t., i.d., s.c.; respiratory virus infection – PR8)
- Experience with preclinical inflammatory disease models (colitis, lupus, RA, PBC)
- Significant hands‑on expertise in animal (mouse and rat) handling and in vivo techniques (i.v., i.p., p.o., i.d., s.c., i.t., bleeds, necropsy)
- Significant experience with lung function measurements (Flexi Vent, plethysmography), imaging (micro‑CT), and inhaled drug delivery
- Hands‑on experience in cellular, biochemical, histological, and molecular biology assay techniques (ELISA, MSD, quantitative RT‑PCR, BCA protein measurements)
- Hands‑on experience with multicolor flow cytometry including spectral flow approaches and immune cell populations
- Computer literacy, especially proficiency with Graph Pad Prism, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, accurate & timely record‑keeping and data analysis
- Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement
- Demonstrated experience in pharmacology with application using in vivo models of inflammation/immunology
- Experience working on project teams leading in vivo contributions
- Experience managing an in vivo pharmacology team or direct reports (≥2 years)
- Ability to work in a flexible, team‑oriented environment; weekend and evening work may be required
