Scientist Medicinal Chemistry
What You Will Do:
In this vital role, you will be part of an innovative Medicinal Chemistry group working on design, synthesis, and purification of novel compounds for potential clinical drug development. You will also have the opportunity to work within Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) focused on novel PROTAC modalities to modulate intractable targets.
- The Scientist will work in teams to develop, implement and perform organic reactions for ongoing Medicinal Chemistry projects, including troubleshooting of synthetic routes and reactions, scouting new synthetic routes, and performing high‑difficulty synthetic chemistry.
- You will contribute to the design of new compounds and the development of structure‑activity relationships.
- Perform structural determinations using NMR and mass spectral techniques and purify compounds using a variety of techniques.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and serve as a lab leader.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, participate in group and project meetings, and assist in writing papers and patent applications.
We seek a Scientist who is a self‑motivated, collaborative professional with a strong background in medicinal chemistry.
Basic Qualifications- Doctorate Degree
- Masters degree and at least 2 years of laboratory experience
- Bachelors degree and at least 4 years of laboratory experience
- Track record of peer‑reviewed publications.
- Demonstrated ability to scout and troubleshoot synthetic routes and perform high‑difficulty synthetic chemistry.
- Clear understanding of structural determination using NMR and mass spectral techniques and knowledge of purification methods.
- Adherence to good laboratory practices with a strong focus on safety.
- Excellent written and oral communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
