What you will do
Within Amgen’s Research and Development organization, the Therapeutic Protein Design (TPD) team supports the broad goal of advancing and applying computational protein design to revolutionize how biologic therapeutics are made.
- Work with a cross‑functional team of scientists and engineers building foundational models that are used, tested, and trained on real‑world applications of generative design to the development of therapeutic biomolecules.
- Provide technical leadership and partner across broad discovery areas of research, establishing machine learning and protein science solutions as a foundation of the discovery pipeline.
- Own and lead the determination of model architectures and research program needs, progressing toward individual ownership and leadership roles.
- Engage with open‑source and academic collaborations in the machine learning field.
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree OR Master’s degree and 2years of machine learning experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 4years of machine learning experience OR Associate’s degree and 8years of machine learning experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in Computational Sciences, Computational Biology, Applied Math, Statistics or related quantitative field.
- Strong track record of research, including three or more scientific publications or conference presentations in machine learning.
- Experience with model training and diffusion model architecture, demonstrated by publication or conference presentations.
- Experience with UNIX/Linux, Python, PyTorch, Git, and cloud computing platforms.
- Experience working with biological data and applying machine learning to computational biology.
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills; enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment.
