Opta is a B2B SaaS platform that helps home improvement contractors protect marketing spend, book more appointments, and save time by blocking low-quality leads. We’re a small, fast-growing team serving contractors in roofing, siding, windows, gutters, bathroom, kitchen, and more.
The RoleWe’re hiring a Business Development Representative to build and qualify new pipeline for Opta. You’ll be the tip of the spear: identifying target accounts, running outbound outreach, and booking qualified demos for the sales team.
This is a ground-floor opportunity. You’ll be one of the first dedicated sales hires, reporting directly to the cofounders with real ownership over how outbound gets built. For the right person, this role is a fast track to an Account Executive seat or sales leadership.
Your #1 OutcomeGenerate a consistent flow of qualified demos with home improvement contractors through outbound prospecting, so the sales team always has pipeline to work.
Responsibilities- Prospect and identify home improvement contractors who buy leads from aggregators
- Run outbound outreach via cold calling, email sequences, Linked In, and other channels
- Qualify inbound leads and route them to the appropriate next step
- Book qualified demos and hand off context cleanly to the sales team
- Research accounts to personalize outreach and identify pain points around lead quality, wasted spend, or manual processes
- Maintain accurate activity logs, contact records, and pipeline notes in Hub Spot
- Collaborate directly with the founders to test messaging, refine targeting, and improve outbound playbooks
- 1-3 years in a BDR, SDR, or outbound sales role at a B2B SaaS company, or equivalent experience in contractor sales / home improvement operations
- Comfortable picking up the phone and cold calling SMB owners
- Strong written communication: you can write outbound emails that get replies
- High activity and high ownership: you set your own pace and don’t need to be managed
- Coachable and competitive: you want to learn, improve, and hit numbers
- Comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch
- Willing to work US hours
- Experience in home improvement, home services, or lead gen / martech
- Familiarity with outbound tools (Apollo, Instantly, Clay, etc.)
- Early-stage startup experience
- You’re consistently booking qualified demos each week through your own sourced outbound
- You can clearly articulate Opta’s value prop in contractor language and qualify prospects effectively
- Your Hub Spot activity and pipeline notes are clean and up to date
- You’ve helped build a repeatable outbound playbook (messaging, sequences, target lists) that others can follow
- $50-65K base + commission ($90-110K OTE)
