Position Summary
A well-established, premier manufacturer is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to join its electrical design engineering team. The role spends 40% of the time on PLC programming and 20% on electrical design. This role reports to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities- Partner with a Senior Engineer to learn product and processes.
- Program PLCs using Allen Bradley PLC platforms.
- Manage multiple engineering projects and partner with mechanical engineers to complete machine design concepts.
- Be responsible for control panel and electrical hardware design.
- Once trained, manage 1-6 design projects at a time.
- Create bill of materials for design projects.
- Make customized modifications to established designs.
- Assist sales and customer service departments with technical electrical expertise related to customer needs and quotations.
- Communicate with customers on equipment needs and preferences.
- Other duties directed by management.
Candidates should enjoy working at a desk 90% of the time, be a contributor within a team-oriented environment, and be detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requirements- Minimum of an Associate's degree; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
- At least three years of experience performing similar functions at an OEM or machine integrator, depending on education.
- PLC programming experience.
- Electrical design, including panels and panel layout.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- VFD and servo control design.
- Strong project management.
