Position Summary

A well-established, premier manufacturer is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to join its electrical design engineering team. The role spends 40% of the time on PLC programming and 20% on electrical design. This role reports to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with a Senior Engineer to learn product and processes.
  • Program PLCs using Allen Bradley PLC platforms.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects and partner with mechanical engineers to complete machine design concepts.
  • Be responsible for control panel and electrical hardware design.
  • Once trained, manage 1-6 design projects at a time.
  • Create bill of materials for design projects.
  • Make customized modifications to established designs.
  • Assist sales and customer service departments with technical electrical expertise related to customer needs and quotations.
  • Communicate with customers on equipment needs and preferences.
  • Other duties directed by management.

Candidates should enjoy working at a desk 90% of the time, be a contributor within a team-oriented environment, and be detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requirements
  • Minimum of an Associate's degree; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
  • At least three years of experience performing similar functions at an OEM or machine integrator, depending on education.
  • PLC programming experience.
  • Electrical design, including panels and panel layout.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency.
Preferred Skills
  • VFD and servo control design.
  • Strong project management.
