A well‑established, premier manufacturer is seeking a Controls Design Engineer to join their electrical design engineering team. The role will spend 40% of the time on PLC programming and 20% on electrical design. This position reports to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with a Senior Engineer to learn product and processes.
- Programmable logic controller programming using Allen Bradley PLC platforms.
- Manage multiple engineering projects and partner with mechanical engineers to complete machine design concepts.
- Responsible for control panel and electrical hardware design.
- Once trained, manage 1-6 design projects at a time.
- Make design changes to equipment designs.
- Create bill of materials for design projects.
- Make customized modifications to established designs.
- Assist sales and customer service departments with technical electrical expertise related to customer needs and quotations.
- Communicate with customers on equipment needs and preferences.
- Other duties directed by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate's degree; a Bachelor's degree is highly preferred.
- At least three years of experience performing similar functions at an OEM or machine integrator, depending on education.
- Proficiency in PLC programming.
- Experience in electrical design, including panels and panel layout.
- Microsoft Office skills.
Preferred but not required skills:
- VFD and servo control design.
- Strong project management.
- Allen Bradley PLCs.
